Mario Kart Asteroid is the tenth Mario Kart title, and the third made by Comet Gaming, Inc. for the Nintendo Asteroid. It will be released sometime early 2015. It is revealed that it can connect with Mario Kart Comet, the predeccessor of Mario Kart Asteroid. It is part of an exclusive deal made by Nintendo and GD Gaming Studios.
The gameplay will be similar to past Mario Kart games, where up to 12 racers compete, either human players or computer-controlled characters, avoiding obstacles and using items to their advantage across many unique tracks. Features such as gliding and anti-gravity make a return. Kart customization returns and is more varied then ever, alongside a new track builder. Mopeds are a new 4th vehicle body, and the different vehicle bodys now have unique attributes.
Many new features are introduced. Underwater diving has been changed to hover driving, although you can switch to underwater diving at any time by pressing a button. The major feature is the new Asteroid Drill technique. There are certain parts of courses where there are rainbow screens. Driving through them turns your kart into a drill where you can use gyro controls to drive through space and drill through asteroids.

Modes[]
Grand Prix[]
In 4 different levels of difficulty, 50cc, 100cc, 150cc, and Mirror (which is essentially 150cc, except all courses are backwards), the player races against CPUs through different cups of 4 tracks each to win as many trophies as possible. This can be played with up to 12 people.
Tournament[]
This new mode can be considered the "story mode" of the game, where a giant tournament commences and you try to make your way to the top by challenging other players to a race. You can put up to 24 different racers in a tourney, and there can be an unlimited amount of players sharing up to 12 Nintendo Asteroid consoles.
Time Trials[]
This mode allows you to race for the best time in a course, equipped with only 3 Mushrooms. There are no Item Boxes or other opponents, though ghosts can be obtained from other people and you can race alongside them. The speed is equal to 150cc.
VS[]
After an absence in Mario Kart 7, VS makes a return in Mario Kart Asteroid, where you can race through a number of courses of your choosing, rather than being limited to the cups. This can be played with up to 12 players.
Battle[]
Battle Mode features exclusive battlefields with different modes inside that differ from regular races.
Balloon Battle[]
Everyone starts off with 3 Balloons, and whoever carries the most balloons at the end (or the last survivor, if everyone loses all their balloons) is the winner. Similar to the Mario Kart DS version of Balloon Battle. This can also be played with different item restrictions.
Shine Thief[]
Similarly to the Balloon Battle of MKW, you get points for knocking people's Shines away, but you lose points for losing a Shine of your own. You can hold up to 3 Shines, which is the number you start off with.
Green Star Frenzy[]
Similar to Shine Runner from MKDS, you must collect Green Stars scattered across the track. After 30 seconds, the players in last are eliminated and the timer restarts until there is one player left.
Track Builder[]
It has been confirmed that a Track Builder will also appear in Mario Kart Asteroid - how it works is unreveald so far.
Characters[]
The two Mii Characters, Racing Suit and Super Outfit, will be in one random class determined by the weight of the Mii.
Galactic StadiumThe first course of the game is a rather simple course. It mainly features basic turns and jumps. Midway through the course racers exit the stadium and travel on the top in the first Asteroid Drill section.
Cloudy MeadowA grassland area that is suspended in the sky, taking a similar look to GBA Sky Garden. It is an introduction course to gliding, as it is featured prominently to cross from island to island.
S.S. DelfinoThis course introduces driving underwater. It appears to take place in an island near Isle Delfino, as the atmosphere is similar and part of the racetrack takes places on a giant boat called the "S.S. Delfino".
Peach's Present Palooza A giant birthday themed shop area that bears similarities to the Mario Party Board Peach's Birthday Cake. Antigravity is first introduced here, and it is used to drive around the walls of presents and cakes.
Birch Wood TownA small town area that is located near a set of waterfalls that can be driven through, bearing resemblance to the town shown in the Mario Party 9 minigame Logger Heads. The town is inhabited by friendly Whittles that cheer for you during the race.
Tumble PeaksA giant range of mountains that gets it's name from the falling Brolders that appear throughout the course. The course also follows through a temple area that can be flown through using gliding.
Explosive IronworksA giant factory area similar to Bob-Omb Factory from Mario Party 9. It appears to be an industrial site belonging to Bowser that creates machinery such as Bullet Bills, Bob-Ombs, and Cannons, which appear as obstacles in the course.
Mario Circuit A standard Circuit course that is named after Mario. The area takes place around Princess Peach's Castle, and you even travel on top of the roof through the use of Anti-Gravity.
Goomba FortA giant castle area that belongs to Goomboss, the king of Goombas. The first half of the course takes place inside the castle, while the second half takes place outside above the castle.
Forest Of IllusionA course based on the world with the same name from Super Mario World. Unlike most courses, it is one giant lap divided into three section. True to it's name, many paths act as dead ends and there are shortcuts in a lot of areas.
Yoshi WildlandsBased on the Wildland stages from Yoshi's Island DS, this course doubles as a natural habitat for wild Yoshis. The course layout itself has a resemblance to a Yoshi, similar to GCN Yoshi Circuit.
Waluigi Casino A giant casino that appears in "Wario City". Players can drive through the casino itself, and later on they will drive on giant versions of the different casino games such as roulette wheels and slot machines/
King Boo's CarouselA giant amusement park that was abandoned and now is inhabited by ghosts. Many rides can be seen and driven past or through, the most prominent being the carousel mentioned in the title.
Subterrain Tower A giant battle fort area with tanks and airships surrounding them. The course starts off in an underground railroad, but after using the Asteroid Drill, players can drive in the tower and around the fort.
Crystal CoveA giant iceberg in the ocean that is home to a mysterious frozen underground cavern. Underwater driving is prominent, and the local penguins act as blockades to the racers.
Sunken Doomship Based off the Sunken Doomship from Super Mario World, this course is rather vast and has multiple paths leading to the Doomship itself. The ship's machinery still works, as Bowser statues will try to fire lasers at you.
Neon Blast Mansion Although the outside of this course looks similar to Luigi's Mansion, this course is entirely inside, where the mansion's interior has been completely redone and features many lights, similarly to the Electrodome of Mario Kart 8.
Metal Market A giant construction site near the Mushroom Kingdom where many Toads are creating a castle. Players drive around the site and can even ride the cranes to drive on top of the iron beams supporting the building.
DatabankThis course takes place inside a giant model of R.O.B that players enter on the first lap. It features heavy antigravity and Asteroid Drill sections, and floating machine parts act as both obstacles and helpful tools, depending on where you are.
Luigi Resort A relaxation resort with many decorations of Luigi on it. Although it is meant to be a relaxing area, roaming Chain Chomps, floating objects on the water, falling pillars, and tight turns can make this course rather tough to navigate safely.
Pastry Harmony HallA giant sweet-filled course inside a concert hall. After entering the hall, races ascend the building and can ride the different candy instruments throughout the course in conjunction with antigravity and gliding.
Interstellar MuseumThis entire course is one giant homage to the Galaxy series, and the course is built and decorated to take appearance from many different galaxies, such as Spin-Dig, Cosmic Cove, Gusty Garden, and Space Junk Galaxy. It also features heavy use of all four different transformations.
Bowser's Castle This course starts off in a rocky terrain with Raining Debris and mini volcanos, though the racing quickly makes a turn inside the castle, where spiked pillars, Thwomps, falling platforms, and Rocket Engines are just a few of many hazards inside.
Rainbow Road Hovering above a giant city, Rainbow Road is the last new course. It is extremely challenging, with little to no railing. Part of the course launches you off of the rainbow and into deep space, and the Asteroid Drill can even break through meteorites and land you on small comets to drive on.
Pipe MazeBased off the world from Super Mario Bros 3, it is a 3 story area with many transporting pipes that can be driven through.
Sky Station GalaxyAn area based on the starting planet of the galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, complete with Yoshi's house, rolling Chomps, and 2 different sides.
Mushroom HeightsThe only true ground on this stage are 4 cornered islands and another island in the middle. The rest is mushrooms, gliding ramps, and falling clouds.
Toad's MetropolisBased on Toad's Turnpike, it is a giant city that changes between the car filled streets and a skyscraper roof.
Unagi IslandA small island that has a lot of surrounding items. The name comes from the different enemies that live on the stage, including Unagis.
Koopa FactoryA giant factory made by Bowser to produce products such as "Bowser Beef" or "Koopa Soda Cans". The fight can take place inside the factory and out into the ranch.
