Thundurus, known in Japan as ボルトロス (Voltolos), is a Legendary Electric/Flying-type Pokémon. It is always male. It forms a trio with Tornadus and Landorus as The Forces of Nature.

Thundurus can switch between Incarnate Forme and Therian Forme when the Reveal Glass is used. It's unknown which Forme is its true form.

Thundurus' Incarnate Forme is based on the kami of lightning, Raijin. Its appearance has drawn inspiration from genies.

The appearance of its Therian Forme draws inspiration from reptiles like snakes and dragons, but also from the Azure Dragon or Black Tortoise, or Quetzalcoatl.

Name OriginEdit

Thundurus may be derived from thunder and Aeolus/Aiolos, ruler of the winds in Greek mythology.

Voltolos also comes from Aiolos, but also from volt.
