is the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, and a default fighter in Super Smash Bros. Fracas. In terms of aesthetic changes from Super Smash Bros. 4, Mario is slightly taller, and his colours have been made more vibrant, akin to his appearance in Super Mario 3D World. He is voiced by Charles Martinet, who has voiced him in both previous Smash installments and Mario installments.
Mario has an alternate costume in Dr. Mario, his alter-ego who owns the Mushroom Kingdom Pharmacy. Dr. Mario's moves are the exact same as Mario's, though he now deals electric damage instead of fire. Other small changes come in appearance: his fireballs are now Megavitamins, while his cape is now white.
It does, however, reflect projectiles at twice the speed.
Additionally, it lets him travel further when used in the air.
The Mario Tornado reappears from Melee and 64. It is renamed the Star Spin, and does multiple hits, with the damage dealt increasing with every hit.
The Super Jump Punch is now Mario's up-aerial. It deals little damage, and only a single coin is produced in a hit.
Mario has a new up-special in Rocket F.L.U.D.D. Like the rocket add-on to F.L.U.D.D. in Super Mario Sunshine, the rocket must be changed before use. The longer the charge, the higher one goes. Fighters beneath Mario are pushed down by the jet of water, while players above him get knockback and little damage.
Mario has a new down-aerial, to replace the Mario Tornado. He now ground pounds similar to the Yoshi Bomb, though it deals significantly less damage.
In addition to a new up special, Mario has a new Final Smash in the Banzai Bill. When used, he will pull out a Bullet Bill cannon and fire a large Banzai Bill across the screen. While it has about the same height range as Mario Finale, it deals less damage, but much more knockback.
Mario's forward aerial now deals 1% more damage, making it stronger once again.
The pipe in Mario's entrance animation has been redesigned to appear more like the pipes from Super Mario 3D World. In addition, its colour will randomly be generated to be blue, red, yellow or the classic green.
Mario is now able to glide, and wears his cape while doing so.
