Buneary is a forty centimeter long, bipedal rabbit with a chocolate brown fur. It has two long ears, tipped with a cream-colored fleece-like puff. These ears are able to curl up, and Buneary are commonly found with their left ear curled up and their right ear standing erect. The lower half of its body is also covered in cream-colored fleece, and its feet are of the same color. It feet also have pink paw pads on its heels. Its face consist of two ovarian eyes, two small, cream-colored spots above its eyes, a pink, triangular nose and a line that connects its lips to its nose. It also has a little spherical tail of the same chocolate brown color.
It can uncoil and roll up its ears at will. When a Buneary suddenly erects both its ears, it senses danger, and when it coils both its ears back, it is scared. It can also extend its ears with great force. So great, that even adults cry in agony after a hit. This technique can also be used to shatter tough boulders into rubble. Forefully extending its ears on the ground itself make Buneary actually leap so high that it surprises itself.
Buneary lives in forests, and sometimes on snowy mountains. When the night is cold, it sleeps with its head tucked into its fluffy fleece.
- Buneary is so far the only Pokémon that is able to learn Frustration by leveling up. Other Pokémon can only learn it by TM or breeding.
- In a similar case, its evolution Lopunny is the only Pokémon so far that is able to learn the opposite move Return. Lopunny learns this around the same level as Buneary learns Frustration.
- Buneary is actually the only non-legendary Pokémon with a base friendship of 0, meaning it'll be harder for the trainer to let it evolve when it is caught.
Buneary is based on a general kind of rabbit.
Buneary is a combination of bunny and ear.
Mimirol is a combination of 耳 mimi (ear) and roll (referring to its rolled-up ears).
